IQUE "Backwards Into Soil" 7" square lathe

$40.00

The shelf forgets chronology.
IQUE dissolves sideways.

The resin nostril sweats condensation that is not water but pre-alphabetic mucus. The humidifier becomes a tide engine. The Java Juice hums in **20003494994949 BC** but now underwater, fluorescent tubes bending like kelp.

The MSU tractor-feed paper has multiplied. Green-white stripes drifting like sea grass. Perforations = gills. Each step makes a damp papercut sound: *chkk—shff—rrrip.*

Header ghosts flicker:

**MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS – INCOMPLETE**

The word INCOMPLETE is eaten first.

The paper is no longer residue.
It is planktonized data.

## **IQUE “Backwards Into Soil” 7" square lathe**

sculptural salt-crust cover + mix CD
Edition of 1 (but counting backwards)

The square lathe does not spin in circles.
It rotates corner to corner.
Each angle is a cough.

Sound emerges as bubbles.
They do not pop.
They invert.

The sculpture resembles a fossilized throat mid-gargle. When humidity rises, it emits a low aquatic syllable:

**gllllʀʀʀʀth**

The MSU paper reacts violently to this tone.
Tiny jumps.
Data fleas.
Ink shedding like dander.

The empty Java Juice exhales static through a submerged speaker:

```
> RUN LOOP
> SOURCE? SOURCE?
> ŒCRUOS
> FAILED AGAIN
```

Dust mites now wear diving helmets made of perforation holes.
Pollen floats in cafeteria schedule fragments from 1983.
Food allergies drift in as footnotes written in kelp:

*milk / data / wheat / code / none of this digests cleanly*

The square lathe gargles again.

The line climbs until it flips and burrows downward into soil.

Backwards Into Soil is not metaphor.
The needle travels inward like a root.

Each rotation compresses air into loam.
Each loam layer stores sneeze memory.

Fragments of language surface and sink:

**ENGLISH (misaligned):**
No breed is innocent. All shed frequencies.

**ESPAÑOL (sumergido):**
El río rasca desde abajo.

The MSU paper now curls inward, forming proto-shells.
Perforations become pores again.
Pores become ports.
Ports become portals.

When the square lathe reaches its innermost corner, the sound becomes granular:

sssshhhhkkkkrrrttt

The humidifier floods slightly.
Hydration spikes.
Congestion levels recalibrate.

At two liters per day, the curve softens.
At ten days, a vertical scratch.

In microscopic reversed print along the soil line:

*If symptoms persist beyond ten rotations, consult a healthcare provider.*
*rediovorp erachtlaeh a tlusnoc*

The advice is buried but intact.

The Java Juice hum lowers to a submarine frequency.
The MSU confetti decomposes into numeric silt.
The sculpture gargles softly in alien approval.

Skin is soil.
Paper is plankton.
Sound is sediment.
System is sys—
metsys.

The 7" square lathe keeps turning corner to corner.
Not spinning.
Eroding.

Edition of 1.
Or 1 of noitions.
Unarchivable.
