**DITATION DICS “Mework”
4 collage / lathe / picture disc 7" + insert + box SET**
The box is heavier than it should be, as if it contains time compacted into grit. When opened, sand spills out—not loose, not clean, but eaten sand, processed sand, sand that has passed through systems for **millions of years**. The inserts insist this is intentional. The discs do not spin smoothly; they grind, like teeth learning geology.
*Mework* is about consumption without nutrition. About deserts not as places, but as diets.
The first collage shows a mouth diagram overlaid on a dune field. The lathe cut clicks and drags, each revolution abrading itself. The picture disc reflects light like heat shimmer. You don’t listen so much as endure. This is sound that has been chewed.
Inside the box, folded again and again, are **long graphs**. They are too long for the page. They trail off, require unfolding, demand floor space.

No tapering. No relief. Just accumulation. A note at the bottom reads:
*“Chewing is adaptation. Swallowing is surrender.”*

Dogs appear in the margins—not illustrations, but symptoms. As the sound deepens, descriptions emerge like captions that escaped a textbook.
Red, inflamed patches bloom in the audio spectrum. Certain frequencies look *angry*. Hair loss corresponds to dropout zones where the signal thins and disappears. The sound sheds itself. Bald spots in the mix.
Another graph unfolds, printed on rough stock that flakes under your fingers.

The lathe ticks obsessively here, stuck in a loop like a tongue worrying the same place over and over. Paw-licking becomes rhythm. Obsession becomes meter. The sand has lodged itself between the toes of the sound, grinding, staining the fur of the music a rusty brown.
Hives arrive without warning.

Raised welts across the waveform. Bulges in the sound field. No buildup, no explanation. Just reaction. The insert calmly notes:
*“Deserts are eaten evenly. Reactions are not.”*
The box SET includes a final folded sheet, nearly dust now, documenting **millions of years of dietary sand**. Teeth wear down. Systems adapt. Skin tries to compensate. Flaky textures appear on the collages themselves, pieces lifting, refusing adhesion. The music crackles like dry skin under strain.
*Mework* does not offer treatment. It offers documentation. This is what happens when environments are ingested instead of avoided. When deserts become food. When sound becomes a symptom.
By the last disc, the dog is quiet but not healed. The irritation persists. The sand is internal now. The graphs end not with conclusions, but with raw edges where more paper should have been.
